Germany is seeking to employ a People Director to be based in our Cologne office, supporting all business activity.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES OF POSITION:
People Leadership:•Act as the functional lead for the German locations People team.•In conjunction with the Global People Team, develop and support the 
People Group strategy.•Assure people strategies and priorities are aligned to business needs. •Be available for advice, guidance and counselling for People group employees.•Be the focal point for expert advice on People issues.•Responsible for driving and supporting Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) programmes across the location as appropriate, in line with company aims.•Work collaboratively and transparently with Global People Function Specialists and the other business Functional Specialists within the region to assure optimal delivery to the business. 
Leadership Development: •Support the development of leaders within Germany. •Activities will include talent identification, succession planning, and development planning for key roles, and graduate development programmes.•Involvement in actively assessing (and delivering, where appropriate) programmes to support leadership development.          Operational Accountability: •Operationally, ensure delivery of the HR calendar of activities.•Deliver the overall suite of activities as required by the Group and the Region. •Activities will be inclusive of remuneration, incentive, talent and performance reviews. Compliance:•Ensure that structures and processes are in place across all locations in Germany to ensure compliance with HR-related legislation, location practice, and company policies/ processes.  •Ensure positive and constructive relationships with the Work Council and ensure the business complies with all consultation and consent requirements.      
Risk Management: •Understand risks and gaps in human resource services.Communicate gaps and assist to manage issues and/or put in place structures to address risks. 
Sponsorship of the People Agenda: •Promote and sponsor the people agenda.•Advocate new methods of engagement, reward or retention as appropriate. 
Day to Day: •Hands on generalist people support to RLTs.•Everyday support on people issues to be provided to the Leadership Teams, comprising Location Managers, and the Support Team. 
Coordination & Collaboration: •Collaborate and share knowledge and resources with other location People leads where appropriate
Network Development and Sponsorship: •Be a part of HR-related functional networks to support the broader business.•Networks will support the broader specialist functional needs in the absence of external or global teams and expertise. 
People Team Development: •Ensure that the appropriate capability to execute HR activities exists in the business.•Manage capability gaps and develop people to close those gaps.•Upskill location people teams and increase overall HR capability in the region. 
Specialist Areas: •Ensure that specialist functional support is optimized.•Where available in the team, ensure that specialists services (Remuneration & Benefits and Mobility) are optimized to deliver the most value across the German businesses. •Work collaboratively and effectively with Global and Regional People Specialist Leads. 
Aim Towards Best Practice:•Seek out and implement more efficient or effective methods of managing HR activities. 
External Providers: •Manage external provider relationships or preferred supplier agreements in the region, as required.
Reports To (Position Title):                                                  •Group People Director, UK, Europe and Central Asia•SVP, Germany
Why Does This Position Exist?•Day to day strategic partner to the Function Leads.•Support across all business lines in Germany for all people related functions and operations.•Ensuring appropriate compliance frameworks across the people function and delivering agreed priorities, activities and operations.
Job Specific Knowledge:•Significant experience in Human resources field in Germany, plus experience in a regional role. 
Industry Specific Experience:•Prefer experience in resources, oil & gas; engineering, project management, or other industry related field. 

Education Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:•Qualifications in Human Resources, Commerce, Management or equivalent.•Preference for post-graduate qualifications. 
HSE Capability:•Understanding and awareness of the importance of HSE and how it inter-relates with Human Resources 
People Skills:•Critical to role.•Strong relationship building skills to influence stakeholders for business value add.  An ability to relate to people across different levels of status, cultures and ethnicities.  •Effectively develops relationships both within the People Function and with business clients and customers.•Demonstrated capability in developing teams with high capability•Demonstrated ability working with diverse stakeholders in a 360 degrees manner 
Other:•German at Native level essential•English at a fluent professional level (speaking, writing, reading)
