Job profile summary:

The Solution Team Lead is part of the Finance Solutions team that designs, improves and sustains solutions across BPs Global SAP systems and provides consultancy services to help the business resolve business problems.

BP has one of the worlds largest and most complex SAP implementations, so this is a challenging global role.

As well as designing and sustaining solutions, the team is responsible for ensuring we keep common global processes across our SAP systems and only allow local divergence where theres a genuine business need.

The Solution Team Lead will build up and sustain a team with the right capabilities to problem solve and deliver finance solutions for the business, and ensure team members are deployed to value creating opportunities.

If you join our Global Solutions Function, you may have the following responsibilities:

  • Actively manage the teams capabilities to ensure its equipped to meet its accountabilities as they evolve in the ever-changing digital workplace.
  • Motivate the team to design and develop solutions to meet business objectives.
  • Support and coach team members to solve problems effectively, operate with a strong results orientation, seek different perspectives and support each other.
  • Monitor workload of the team to ensure effective work/life balance.
  • Ensure that all team members have an effective career development plan and are making progress with it.
  • Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships with functional counterparts, vendors, and related business partners.
  • Collaborate closely with partners to understand future needs and deliver results for the BP Finance Function.
  • Develop and share best practices to enable consultation and engagement with the business and GBS function to ensure that all business, statutory, and fiscal requirements are satisfied.
  • Participate in design authorities and network meetings to foster knowledge sharing.
  • Use designated knowledge management processes and tools.
  • Engage with the business, the Finance function and other stakeholders to understand, analyse and assess business requirements or business problems.
  • Facilitate discussion of design issues and solution options with a broad range of financial stakeholders.
  • Identify and capture opportunities to improve the finance functionality and its usage.
  • Review finance solution designs to ensure global process design governance policies for R2R are adhered to, and that they comply with corporate governance and external regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure options and recommendations for finance solution design are presented to relevant governance forum.
  • Validate that other solutions that integrate with the finance solution are compliant with GBS standards.
  • Ensure technical designs are reviewed to ensure business needs are met, and the technical solution is aligned with the conceptual and process design.
  • Ensure design documentation and training materials are up to date.


In the Business Analyst Lead (Finance Solutions) role we have the following requirements:
  • End-to-end accounting experience
  • SAP User experience is a must
  • Fluent English language knowledge
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with systems and process design
  • Knowledge of SAP FICO functionality and configuration is a huge plus
  • Suitably qualified professional with degree or similar education background.
  • Accountancy qualification or working towards one (e.g. CIMA, CPA, ACA, ACCA)
  • Passion and experience in capturing business requirements and user stories; improving processes and systems and quantifying potential business benefits.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex processes and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Experience with SAP including a general working knowledge of finance transactional processes in an SAP environment.
  • Ability to work within a virtual global team environment.
  • Ability to prioritise effectively the role will call for the successful candidate to liaise with multiple stakeholders, meet and deliver a wide set of demands from various parts of the organisation within challenging and tight deadlines.
